Messy Church

Messy Church is a way of being church for families.  It involves; creativity, hospitality and celebration.  At our Messy Church sessions we have a theme,

there are numerous craft activities set out around  the church for the children to do, that are linked to the theme.  Tea and cakes are available throughout the afternoon which ends in a short act of worship, again linked to the theme, it is very simple and appropriate for the children. The aim is for the children and parents to have fun whilst learning something about the Christian faith.

What do we do?

Next Session at Feering

Holiday Messy Church on

25 October

was about

Favourite Old Testament Bible stories. The children played games, did craft activities and generally had lots of fun.

Holiday Messy Church                              26 July

On the first Wednesday of the school holidays a Messy Church Session was held at St Mary's.

The theme was 'The Lord is My Shepherd' and it was attended by over 40 children along with their parents or carers.

As the children entered the church they were handed a cardboard shepherd's crook and as they completed each of the activities they received a picture to stick on the crook.

The activities were many and varied, including weaving a picture of a river, making a sheep with wobbly legs, icing biscuits and making a large collage about the Lord's Prayer (every child added something to this wonderful picture.) There were too many craft activities to mention.

The children had a wonderful time and the session ended with a picnic lunch followed by songs and a prayer.

I am sure they are all looking forward to the next one!

Thank you so much to everyone who gave up their time to make it such a success.

Previous Holiday Messy Church

The theme for the Messy Church Session in February half-term was Noah's Ark.

It was very well attended and everyone had a great time.

The theme for half Term Messy church in October 2016 was colours.

We made rainbow cakes, painted tiles, made patterns with coloured sand in bottles, did rainbow weaving and made a collage.

We said thank you to God for the things we love.

There were 40 children and 30 adults.
