Kelvedon and Feering Churches
Kelvedon and Feering Churches

It is often a very difficult time when a loved one dies, but the Church is here to help in any way that we can.  Whilst the funeral directors will normally liaise directly with our Priest-in-Charge Simon regarding the funeral arrangements, please do feel free to contact him directly if you would like to speak to him at this time, or if the Church can help to make life just a little easier during what is often a very busy and stressful time.  Simon’s contact details are below.  Please let your chosen funeral director know your wishes, and especially if you would like Simon to take your loved one’s service at one of our two churches, or at a  crematorium, or a combination of the two.

Please note that where burials are concerned, everyone who lives in Kelvedon or Feering is entitled to a full burial (or a burial of their ashes) in one of our two churchyards – St Mary’s Burial Ground, opposite St Mary’s Church in Church Street, and St Martin’s Cemetery (also known as Feering Cemetery) on Coggeshall Road, Feering, opposite Feering Primary School and Community Centre.  Again, for more detailed information please speak both to your funeral director and to Simon.  There are quite strict regulations about the kinds of headstones or memorials that can be placed in a churchyard.  You can see them here.

We also have an annual service for all who have been bereaved, whether very recently or some years ago.  It doesn’t matter if the service wasn’t in church, or wasn’t taken by Simon, or wasn’t even in this locality: if you miss someone and need both to mourn and remember them, then please come to our In Loving Memory service in St Mary’s Kelvedon on Saturday 2nd November.  It will be in mid-late afternoon and the time will be confirmed later.

In Loving Memory is a simple service lasting about 45 minutes, with familiar hymns and an opportunity to light a candle in your loved one’s memory.  You are warmly invited to stay afterwards for refreshments.  For funerals Simon has taken, immediate next of kin of are specially invited to this service, but any family or friends of a loved one are very welcome to come.
