Our Teddy Bear Club meets every Wednesday morning in term time at 9.30am in St Mary’s church and all babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents, carers and friends are most welcome to join us for a short, friendly service of prayer and praise with songs and activities followed by a chance for the children to play and the adults to chat.
The children (and indeed adults!) are invited to bring their teddies to join with our special bear Bella to join in our worship.

During June 2019 we heard about how we celebrate God sending His Holy Spirit to help us and then continued with giving thanks for our amazing bodies with stories of how Jesus healed the blind man and the deaf mute and Peter healing the lame man. Our craft always has a theme related to our story, so our children always take something home to remind them of the story they have heard.
On the Wednesday before Christmas we had a Christmas celebration. During our time in church we sang some well known Carols and Simon told the children the Christmas Story. We then went into the church rooms and had a party. The children played party games and adults and children alike, enjoyed the party food which was kindly donated by various families. Everyone had a great time and it really got us into the Christmas spirit.
Our first year has been very successful and our children have heard about many of our best loved bible stories – The Good Shepherd, the Lost Coins (we looked for them all round church) and, memorably, with the help of Mr Squawk and Mr Pickles whom we hope to meet again soon, the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, and many more. We have celebrated all our children’s birthdays as well as the church’s birthday – Pentecost, made lots of craft items, eaten yummy cakes and biscuits, played outside when the weather permitted and made new friends. We ended the year as we had started – with a jolly Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
