You can be married in a church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised (christened) or whether you go to church or not or wherever you live.
Complications may occur if one of you has been married before or is a foreign national, however, there may well be a way forward, so please discuss this with us.
The Church of England has a lot of information about getting married in church.
If you are hoping to hold your wedding at either St Mary’s Kelvedon or All Saints’ Feering, please contact by email the Administrator, Fleur Harris or call 07878 177968 who can talk you through what needs to be done.
At St Mary’s the flower arranging team will try and provide flowers to fit in with your colour scheme. Contact Geraldine, who will be happy to chat to you about your requirements.
She likes to meet all the wedding couples to help in any way she can.
At All Saints’ they only have fresh flowers at Christmas, Easter and Harvest, they use silk flowers at other times of the year. However, if you contact Jane Crayston she will be able to help you with what vases etc they could lend or and meet you in church to show you or your florist round.
St Mary’s has a choir, you might like them to sing at your wedding. A choir is helpful in leading the congregation in singing the hymns you choose and can sing an anthem during the signing of the register. Contact Caroline who leads the choir who can advise on hymn choices and other music (whether or not you choose to have the choir). Contact Caroline for more information.
All Saints’ do not have a choir
St Mary’s has a peel of 8 bells. The bells can be rung after the wedding ceremony to celebrate your marriage. For more information please contact John.
